Not very kid or family friendly. We were visiting my family who were camped there. We were all in town for a wedding. The kids were playing nicely on the playground when the old guy on a golf cart said kids could not play without an adult sitting there (we could see the park from the campsite). So kids came back to the site. They were then sitting on the rocks directly beside the site playing and then woman on golf cart came and told us they could not play on the rocks. (Kids were not being loud or disruptive)

My family were all in one campsite cooking supper and eating (there was 3 of them camping right beside each other) as well as us visitors, so there was approx 15 of us, and the old guy came and told us that we were only allowed 5 to a site. We literally had to split everyone up in between the campsites. This was at supper time, we weren't being loud, we were just all sitting around talking as steak and burgers were being cooked.

The old guy then came around again and accused my uncle of dumping a bunch of garbage in the garbage bin/hut thing they have because someone told him it was someone in a big fancy unit. My uncle had literally just gotten set up, so it wasn't him. But they were complaining that someone put garbage in the garbage bin.

The whole experience was horrible as the old couple just kept coming around and giving us trouble for literally nothing. I am very glad that I did not haul my camper all the way out there to that place.

Once in a while you find a campground a little more memorable than the others. That would describe the Champagne RV Park located a bit northwest of Lac Du Bonnet off of Highway #11. Owned and operated by Dennis and Irene Champagne, these people are obviously not afraid of work. The grounds are nicely landscaped and facilities are well maintained. Campsites offer a good selection of seasonal, daily, pull-throughs and tent sites. Internet service is good and you can get CBC TV on the antennae. Young people will enjoy the volleyball court, basketball hoop, and playground structure. But it is Champagne Forest that sets this campground apart. Champagne Forest is a kind of fantasy land built within a dense forest of pine, spruce, and birch. Displays are built along a series of trails that wind throughout the forest. The cartoon and nursery rhyme characters brings to mind a sort of Manitoba version of Disney World without the high teck. This must be particularly true when they give tours of the forest on the Ladybug train. Displays are modelled on popular nursery rhymes such as The Cow Jumped Over the Moon and Lady That Lived in a Shoe, and cartoon characters such as The Three Pigs. Theme structures include pirate cove, Indian village, doll house and doll display, cowboy cabin, saloon, pioneer farmyard, church, school, store and more. When I toured in August the Forest had been shut down due to the extreme drought and possible fire hazard, thus some of the themes were in need of a touch-up. Irene tells me they occasionally give group tours of the forest with proceeds to charity. Young and old alike will enjoy this campground.

Owners take a lot of pride in this campground, from the newly planted trees to the cute little "Champagne forest" walking trail. The owners were very helpful and friendly.

We were fortunate to spend 3 nights at Champagne's RV park in Aug/ 2016. What a delight. We are full timers, and haven't had an experience such as this. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with large flat sites (pull through or back in). And if that wasn't enough, there is an enchanted walk in the forest on the property, where the owners have created wonderful storybook settings. And, it is a short drive to Pinawa dam which is also a fantastic outing for hiking and picnics. If you are considering a campground in this area, do not hesitate to book Champagne's- it will be a memorable experience.
